Sono venuti da quattro Nazioni per fare una esperienza particolare nel campo del Restauro dei Monumenti attraverso lo studio della Tecnologia Strutturale Antica.
Oggetto dello studio è il famoso Ponte di Buriano che dall’anno 1240 permette l’attraversamento dell’Arno nei pressi di Arezzo.
L’antico Ponte è malato, gli anni ed il traffico moderno a cui è soggetto, ne hanno fiaccate le forze. Le sue pietre, corrose dal gelo e dagli altri agenti atmosferici stanno cadendo una dopo l’altra nel fiume. Nei larghi mancamenti del paramento così formati comincia a penetrare l’acqua piovana che trasforma l’antica malta magra del “sacco”, in terra.
In queste condizioni e con l’estendersi del fenomeno c’è da aspettarsi un improvviso collasso, magari nel corso del passaggio di un grosso autotreno.
E’ una situazione che va interrotta prima possibile anche perché i danneggiamenti aumentano ed i rimedi diventano esponenzialmente sempre più costosi.
Bisogna augurarsi che in breve tempo si arrivi all’interruzione del traffico pesante sul Ponte. Questi ragazzi hanno dato il loro spontaneo contributo alla salvaguardia del vecchio Ponte.
Con molto senso di responsabilità e con entusiasmo, sono venuti da molto lontano per salvarlo.
In cambio hanno ricevuto lezioni “molto pratiche” di Tecnologia Antica applicata alle problematiche di restauro dei Monumenti.
E’ stata una esperienza utilissima che il vecchio Ponte ha resa possibile con la sua valenza architettonica, con la sua conoscenza diretta.
E’ un messaggio importante che ha per significati la Scienza, la Conoscenza ed i valori di storia e di civiltà che ogni Monumento antico porta avanti attraverso i secoli a disposizione di quelli che sanno leggerli.
In nome di questi valori ho lavorato e lavoro da una vita e mai rimpiangerò il tempo ed i piccoli sacrifici che ho incontrato.
A tutti gli studenti del Corso invio un Augurio: che possano vivere in futuro altre esperienze come questa, magari, accanto ad un vecchio Ponte che aspetta paziente il loro giovane aiuto.

They have come from four Nations for a special experience on Monument Restauration through the study of Ancient Structural Technology.
The aim of the study is the famous Bridge of Buriano which permits since 1240 the crossing of the Arno River near the city of Arezzo.
This ancient Bridge is ailing, the years and the modern traffic to which it is subject, have weakened it. Its stones, corroded by ice and by other atmospheric agents, are falling one after the other into the river. In the consequently formed big holes of the hangings, rain water starts to penetrate transforming the ancient lean mortar of the “sacK” into ground.
In these conditions and with the extension of this phenomenon a sudden collapse is can possibly happen , maybe during of the passage of a big truck.
This is a situation that needs to be stopped as soon as possible because the damage grows and the remedies become stunningly more and more expensive.
We must hope that we will be able to obtain a soon interruption of the heavy traffic on the Bridge. These young students have given their spontaneous contribution to the preservation of this old Bridge.
With a great sense of responsability and enthusiasm they have come from far away to save it.
In return they have received ”very practical” lessons on Ancient Technology applied to the restoration of monuments.
It has been a meaningful experience made possible thanks to this old Bridge and its architectual value and through its direct study.
It is an important message coming from the fields of Science, Knowledge, the values of history and of civilization that every ancient Monument brings forth through the centuries and which is available to all those who want to read them.
In the name of these values I have worked – and still work - for a lifetime and I never regret the time and the little sacrificies that I have met until now.
To all the students of the Course I send a wish: may you live in future other experiences like this one, and why not, next to an old Bridge patiently awaiting your young help.

Die Studenten der vier Nationen sind gekommen, um besondere Erfahrungen im Bereich der Denkmalsanierung zu sammeln, welche durch das Erlernen der Bautechnik der Antike beigebracht werden sollten.
Das Hauptthema der Studie ist die berühmte Brücke von Buriano, welche seit 1240 die Überquerung des Flusses Arno ermöglicht, der sich in der Nähe der Stadt Arezzo befindet.
Die Konstruktion dieser historischen Brücke wird über Jahre und durch die Belastung des Autoverkehrs geschwächt. Die Steine, welche dem Frost und anderen Witterungseinflüssen ausgesetzt sind, fallen einer nach dem anderen in den Fluss. Infolge dessen werden große Löcher in der Wand gebildet, wodurch das Regenwasser die Konsistenz des Mörtels zerstört und ihn in die Erde umwandelt.
Unter solchen Bedingungen und durch weitere Entwicklung dieses Phänomens ist der Zusammenbruch der Brücke möglich, zum Beispiel durch das Fahren eines großen LKWs.
Dieser Prozess muss möglichst schnell beendet werden, weil die Schaden immer größer werden und somit die Sanierung immer teurerer wird.
Wir hoffen, dass es uns gelingt, den starken Autoverkehr auf der Brücke zu stoppen. Diese jungen Studenten haben einen spontanen Beitrag zum Erhalt dieser alten Brücke geleistet.
Mit viel Begeisterung und Verantwortung sind sie von Weitem gekommen, um die Brücke zu retten. Sie haben ihre Kenntnisse im Bereich der Bautechnik für die Restauration der Denkmäler angewendet, welche sie in den Vorlesungen im Rahmen des Workshops bekommen haben. Es war eine nützliche Erfahrung, welche dank der alten Brücke mit ihrem architektonischen Wert ermöglicht wurde.
Es ist eine wichtige Botschaft, die aus den Bereichen der Wissenschaft , der Geschichte und der Zivilisation stammt, welche jedes alte Monument durch die Jahrtausende trägt und für die daran Interessierten zur Verfügung steht.
Für dieses Wertvolle habe ich gearbeitet – arbeite immer noch – werde mein ganzes Leben lang arbeiten und werde für die Zeit und kleinen Opferungen, die ich bis jetzt getroffen habe, nie bereuen.
Ich wünsche allen Studenten des Kurses: sammelt in der Zukunft eures Lebens auch andere ähnliche Erfahrungen. Andere alten Brücken warten auf eure Hilfe.

Antik Yapı Teknolojilerini öğrenerek Anıtların Restorasyonuna ilişkin özel bir deneyim kazanmak için dört farklı milletten öğrenciler gelmiştir.
Çalışmanın temelinde Arezzo’nun yakınında, Arno Nehri’nin iki kıyısını 1240 yılından beri birbirine bağlayan ünlü Buriano Köprüsü yer alıyor.
Bu antik köprü taşıt trafiği ve yaşından dolayı zayıflamış bulunuyor. Köprünün taşları buzlanma ve diğer atmosferik etmenlerden dolayı korozyona uğramaktadır. Korozyon sonucu nehire düşen taşların yerinde büyük boşluklar oluşmasının yanı sıra boşluklardan içeri giren yağmur suları “sack” adı verilen antik harca zarar vermektedir.
Köprü bu haldeyken belki bir kamyonun köprüden geçişi bile köprünün yıkılmasına sebep olabilir.
Bu durum durdurulmadığı sürece köprüde oluşan hasar gün geçtikçe artıyor ve köprünün onarımı zorlaşmakla birlikte pahalılaşıyor.
Umuyoruz ki köprü üzerindeki yoğun trafik en kısa sürede engellenir. Öğrenciler bu eski köprünün korunmasına kendi istekleri ile katkıda bulunmuşlardır.
Bu sebeple büyük bir sorumluluk duygusu ve hevesle uzaklardan gelmişlerdir.
Buna karşılık olarak anıtların restorasyonunda uygulanan Antik Teknolojiler üzerine “oldukça pratik” bilgiler edinmişlerdir.
Bu eski köprünün ve mimari değerlerinin verdiği katkıyla öğrenciler önemli deneyimler kazanmışlardır.
Yüzyıllardan beri süregelen Antik Anıtlar onu öğrenmek isteyenler için Bilim, Bilgi, tarihi değerler ve uygarlıklar hakkında önemli mesajlar içermektedir.
Ömür boyu üzerinde çalışmış ve hala çalışıyor olduğum bu değerler için harcadığım zaman ve yaptığım fedakarlıklardan hiç bir zaman pişman olmadım.
Bu çalışmaya katılan bütün öğrencilere dileğim : gelecekte de böyle deneyimler yaşamanız ve kim bilir belki de bir başka eski Köprü sabırla sizin yardımlarınızı bekliyordur.

Ellos han venido de cuatro naciones para tener una experiencia particular en el campo de la Restauración de Monumentos a través del estudio de la tecnología estructural antigua.
El objetivo del estudio es el famoso Puente de Buriano, que perminte desde el año 1240 cruzar el rio Arno cerca de la ciudad de Arezzo.
El antiguo puente esta enfermo, los años y el tráfico moderno a los que está sujeto lo han debilitado. Sus piedras, corroidas por el hielo y otros agentes atmosféricos, están cayendo una tras otra al río. Consecuentemente, se están formando grandes agujeros, en los cuales el agua de la lluvia empieza a filtrar conviertiendo el antiguo mortero del “sacco”, en tiera.
En estas condiciones y con el alcance de este fenomeno, es de esperar un imprevisto colapso, tal vez durante el paso de un gran camión.
Es necesario detener esta situación lo mas rápido posible porque el daño crece y los remedios cada vez empiezan a ser asombrosamente mas caros.
Debemos esperar que lo antes posible se consiga la interrupción del tráfico en el Puente. Estos jovenes estudiantes, aportaron su espontanea contribución para la presentación del viejo puente.
Con un gran sentido de la responsabilidad y el entusiasmo, vinieron desde muy lejos para salvarlo.
A cambion han recibido lecciones “muy prácticas” de tecnología antigua aplicada a la problematica de la restauración de los Monumentos.
Y ha sido una experiencia muy útil que fue posible gracias al valor arquitectonico de este antiguo puente y a su estudio de forma directa.
Es un mensaje importante que viene de los campos de la ciencia, el conocimiento, los valores de la historia y la civilización que cada monumento antiguo da a luz a través de los siglos y el cual está a dispoción de cualquiera que quiera leerlos.
En nombre de estos valores he trabajado y trabajo todavía como un estilo de vida y nunca he lamentado el tiempo y los pequeños sacrificios que he conocido hasta ahora.
A todos los estudiantes del curso les envio un deseo: Puede que tu vivas en el futuro otras experiencias como esta y porque no, al lado de un viejo puente que espera pacientemente tu joven ayuda
